Photographed at the moment of transition — a doorway, a shore, an edge of light. The image holds the pause before the next thing.

"My work is interested in the unspeakable specificity of experience — the textures of grief, rest, waiting, or tenderness that language reaches for and misses."
Jai Karns is a fine art photographer exploring softness, atmosphere, and the emotional language of color. Working primarily in macro and natural light photography, her images focus on quiet details that often go unnoticed — petals fading at the edges, shifting light, and moments suspended between abstraction and observation.
Her work is rooted in stillness and close looking. Using shallow depth of field and restrained composition, she creates photographs that blur the line between documentation and memory, inviting viewers into slowed, contemplative spaces.
Based Brooklyn, New York, Karns continues to develop ongoing photographic series centered on seasonal transitions, gardens, organic forms, and ephemeral light.
